New Chief Executive appointed

Dr Stephen Breslin has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of Futurelab.

Stephen was previously Chief Executive of the Kelvin Institute, an R&D lab formed in partnership with Glasgow University, Strathclyde University and Scottish Enterprise with the aim of maximising the commercial potential of innovation research. Before joining the Kelvin Institute, Stephen was a member of the original development team of Graham Technology, where he was exposed to many of the world's largest blue-chip organisations in the technology sector.

Commenting on Stephen's appointment, Futurelab's Chairman Lord Puttnam said, "Stephen has the energy, vision and experience to lead Futurelab into the next exciting stage of its development. I very much look forward to working with him to ensure that Futurelab extends its reach and its impact."

Stephen Breslin commented, "This is a great opportunity for me to leverage my experience in the commercialisation of innovative research. Futurelab has established itself as one of the world's leading centres for innovation in education. I look forward to the challenge of working with Futurelab to take their ideas and technology to new levels and, in doing so, transform the way people learn."

Stephen will take the helm on 21 April 2008.
