Travelling to Futurelab by road

The M4 provides a link from London and the East, the M5 from the North or South and South Wales.

From London and East
Leave the M4 at Junction 19 and take the M32. Keep to the right as you approach the end of the motorway, following signs for the City Centre. Fork right at the traffic lights and at the roundabout take the first exit, signposted City Centre. Follow signs for 'Anchor Road, A4, Avonmouth' through the one-way system, and make sure you stay in the correct lane (keep left as you exit the Centre). Go past Explore at-Bristol, and take the first available left-hand turning, signposted Millennium Square Car Park (which is underground). After parking, go up to Millennium Square and head towards the corner by the Explore at-Bristol sign. Keep going on towards the waterfront, turning left once you get there (don't go over the footbridge). Turn left just before Mackenzies bar; the entrance to the Futurelab office is a big blue door.

From North or South
Leave the M5 at Junction 18 Avonmouth and join the A4 Portway, following signs for the City Centre. Continue on the A4 underneath the Suspension Bridge, and bear left onto Hotwell Road (still the A4) through the one-way system, following signs to the City Centre. At the roundabout take the third exit (signposted City Centre), and then take the first right-hand turning, signposted Millennium Square Car Park (which is underground). From South Wales
From the first (old) Severn Crossing join the M5 at the Almondsbury junction and proceed south to Junction 18; follow above directions from North or South.
From the second (new) Severn Crossing use the M49 to the end of the motorway at Junction 18 (M5) Avonmouth; follow above directions from North or South.

Travelling to Futurelab by rail

There are two mainline railway stations in Bristol; Bristol Temple Meads and Bristol Parkway. We recommended that you travel to Bristol Temple Meads.

Bristol Temple Meads station
Temple Meads station is about one mile from Futurelab. Taxis and buses are available outside the station - the number 8/9 circular bus service runs every 10 minutes. Ask the driver to stop at 'The Centre'; you will see the Watershed Media Centre ahead of you by the waterside. Take the walkway along the front of this building (with the water on your left) until you get to Mackenzie's bar. Turn right; the entrance to the Futurelab office is a big blue door.

It is a short (15-20 minutes) walk from Temple Meads station to Futurelab:

• Head out of the train station and at the end of the road turn right
• Cross over at the first pedestrian crossing and head right
• Keep going along Redcliffe Way, past the Ramada Hotel and St Mary Redcliffe church
• At the roundabout go straight over, using the zebra crossing to the left
• Go over the bridge and cross over the road to Queen Square, passing down the right-hand side of the Hole in the Wall pub
• Keep going all the way down the left-hand side of the square
• Cross over at the pedestrian crossing and keep walking straight on down Farr's Lane
• Walk over the footbridge and turn right immediately
• Turn left just before Mackenzies bar; the entrance to the Futurelab office is a big blue door.

Bristol Parkway station
Parkway station is about six miles from Futurelab. You are advised to take a taxi.

Travelling to Futurelab by air

Bristol International Airport is eight miles south-west of Bristol City Centre. Details and timetables for the Bristol International Flyer bus service to and from Bristol city centre can be found at www.bristolairport.co.uk.
