Please see below for help with setting up and using RSS news feeds.
What is RSS?
RSS - also called 'news feeds' - is a way you can get notified of new content on a website without having to visit it.
To start using RSS you either need to use a news reader program (eg Google Reader or Bloglines) or a
How do I use it?
Outlook 2007
- Viewing this page in Internet Explorer 7, click an RSS feed link, above
- On the next page, click the link ‘View Feed XML’ in the right-hand box-out
- On the next page, click the ‘Subscribe to this feed’ link
- A dialog box will appear, asking you to name your feed. Accept the default, unless you wish to change it, then click "Subscribe".
- Now go into Outlook 2007; on the left-hand side, in your mail folders, the RSS folder will have another feed added to it
- From now on, when the website is updated, you'll get an e-mail telling you.
Modern web browser (Firefox, Safari, IE7 etc)
- Click one of the RSS links above
- Click the link that reads 'View Feed XML'
- On the next screen, click the button 'Subscribe Now'
- A dialogue box will appear; give your Live Bookmark a title and then select where to save it using the drop-down box (we recommend using the default: 'Bookmarks Toolbar Folder')
Feed reader software
- Click one of the RSS links above, which takes you to the Feedburner subscribe page
- Find and click the logo of your preferred feedreader (eg Bloglines, Newsgator, NetVibes)
- Once redirected to their site, you can either create an account or log in
Unfortunately, Internet Explorer 6 doesn't support RSS, but you can upgrade to version 7 or switch to Firefox - both for free.
