The Call for Ideas is now closed

The Call for Ideas is our way of seeking exciting ideas about new ways of learning with technology. We want to try new things and create new resources for learning, using the opportunities afforded by technology.

Our aim is to develop ideas and help showcase them to the education and technology sectors, the media and our network of contacts. We have an experienced team of experts who are skilled in R&D, researching and developing ideas and prototypes and in collaborating on projects. For the right idea we provide funding to cover the development costs of turning an idea into a reality.

The latest Call for Ideas on the theme of meaningful and mobile games resulted in an excellent range of submissions and the following idea was short-listed.

EcoBugscxpartners

The idea - to collect and catalogue new species of virtual creatures and monitor the health of your creatures as they are effected by environmental changes. This game encourages children aged 7-11 to take an active interest in the environment. Using the global issues of sustainability, pollution and over fishing, and scaling them down to a scenario they can relate to and engage with.

EcoBugs has been submitted to the 2010 Digital Media and Learning Competition. The competition is designed to find and inspire the most novel uses of new media in support of learning. To vote in the competition, register a username and password and leave comments on submissions of interest. Public commenting closes on 3 February 2010.
