I would like to find out more about Savannah. I saw it demonstrated at a Connected Learning Conference in Adelaide a few years ago and now being at a teachnology school, www.barnier-p.schools.nsw.edu.au I'd like to implement something more in the ICT department.
The idea of the PDAs being used sounds fantastic. If you could send me any information about how you were funded that would be appreciated.
Savannah was a prototype research project carried out back in 2003-4, designed to explore the collaborative use of mobile technology. The findings from this project fed into other R&D work in this area, and the most notable outcome was Create-A-Scape (www.createascape.org.uk), a free cross-curriculur web resource that can be used to create mediascapes.
If you're interested in running activities similar to Savannah, I would definitely recommend trying Create-A-Scape - the website should give you everything you need to get started, including software, step-by-step guides and examples.
