Through My Eyes

IkamvaYouth runs a Media, Image and Expression programme, which provides the learners at IkamvaYouth – who do not have the opportunity to study any arts-related courses at their schools – a platform for self-expression, through performance, poetry, creative writing and photography. The Through My Eyes project provides learners with a few basic lessons on photography, and the opportunity to have digital cameras for a few days. Despite the fact that for many learners it is their first time using a camera, the results are quite astounding, and the photographs have been exhibited in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, Canada and Singapore. Prints of the photographs are sold to raise funds for IkamvaYouth.
